Ledger.com/Start® | Getting Started — Ledger

In today’s fast-moving digital world, cryptocurrency ownership is becoming more common than ever. Alongside this growth, the need for security has never been greater. Whether you’re a beginner exploring digital currencies or an experienced investor, protecting your assets from online threats should always come first. Ledger is a trusted global leader in crypto security, providing hardware wallets that keep your private keys offline and completely safe from hackers and scams.

To begin your journey securely, visit Ledger.com/Start® — the official and only authorized page for setting up your Ledger device. This page provides verified guidance, video tutorials, and software downloads to ensure your wallet is configured properly and safely.

What Is a Ledger Hardware Wallet?

A Ledger hardware wallet is a compact, physical device that stores your private keys offline. Unlike software wallets or exchange-based wallets that are always connected to the internet, a Ledger wallet isolates your sensitive data, providing an unmatched level of protection against cyber threats and phishing attempts.

Ledger currently offers two main models designed for different types of users:

  • Ledger Nano S Plus – The ideal choice for beginners. It’s affordable, easy to use, and supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies.

  • Ledger Nano X – A premium model offering Bluetooth connectivity, a larger screen, and greater storage capacity for managing multiple crypto assets simultaneously.

Both models work seamlessly with Ledger Live, the official companion app that allows you to manage, send, receive, and stake your cryptocurrencies safely.

Step 1: Visit Ledger.com/Start®

Your setup journey begins at the official page — www.ledger.com/start.
This
is the only legitimate website for initializing your device and downloading the official Ledger Live app. Never trust third-party websites or links, as they can be fraudulent or contain compromised software.

At Ledger.com/Start®, you’ll find setup instructions, safety tips, and official firmware updates for your Ledger device.

Step 2: Unbox and Verify Your Device

When you receive your Ledger hardware wallet, ensure that:

  • The box is sealed and hasn’t been tampered with.

  • The package includes the device, USB cable, recovery sheets, and instruction booklet.

  • The device screen is blank before it’s powered on for the first time.

If your device arrives pre-configured, or if you find a printed recovery phrase inside the box, do not use it. Contact Ledger Support immediately. Only you should generate your recovery phrase during setup.

Step 3: Install Ledger Live

Once you have verified your device, download the Ledger Live application. It is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. This software is essential for setting up your device, installing crypto apps, and managing your digital assets.

Through Ledger Live, you can monitor your portfolio, stake crypto, and send or receive funds securely — all while keeping your private keys safely offline on your Ledger device.

Step 4: Initialize and Secure Your Device

After powering on your Ledger, follow the on-screen instructions to set up as a new device. You’ll create a secure PIN code and receive a 24-word recovery phrase.

This recovery phrase is your ultimate backup key. If your Ledger is ever lost, stolen, or damaged, you can restore your wallet using this phrase.

To protect your assets:

  • Write the recovery phrase clearly on the provided recovery sheet.

  • Never take a photo or store it digitally.

  • Keep it in a safe, offline location.

Remember: Ledger will never ask for your recovery phrase — not via email, social media, or any other channel.

Step 5: Add Crypto Accounts and Start Transacting

Once the setup is complete, use Ledger Live to install apps for each cryptocurrency you plan to manage (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, or XRP). Then, add accounts in Ledger Live to track balances, send, or receive crypto.

When receiving funds, always double-check the wallet address displayed on both your device and your computer or phone screen before confirming. This ensures that no one has altered your address through malware or phishing software.
